These are the three witches from Macbeth. In this picture the archetypes are the witches. Witches are very crooked, mischievous, evil, and old. Many other archetypes that encounter witches do not fully trust them. Witches are not like other characters because they talk differently. They do no not use sentences like humans do but rather they talk in chanting phrases. What is symbolic about this picture is that these witches travel in three which symbolizes past, present and future; where the witches predict that Macbeth will become Thane of Cawdor, Thane of Glams and King. These three witches prophesizes that Macbeth will have a change of events in his life. In the begginning of the play the three witches start off in a desert and a heath just like in the picture above. This deserted area is empty which symbolizes a forbidden endless land of nothing. On the bottom of the tree the roots seem to be growing a sharp object with teeth and claws. This is the magic of the heath and the three witches. You never know what to expect from witches when you encounter them.
